A Travel App For Locals
Spur is an app designed to connect people with places to go and things to do based on their likes and dislikes.
It does so by linking similar people and their favorite places on their home turf.
Originally designed with travelers in mind, the app can be used by locals as well.

Research
The project started as a task to create an app for travelers. I started with a survey to gauge people's interests and pain points with regards to travel. With about 20 responses to the survey, I was able to hone in on what travelers do when they travel, what apps they use, and what struggles they deal with when traveling.
I moved on to interviews with three volunteers. From this, I was able to gather enough information to create an affinity map.
The affinity map began to show a pattern evolving from different travelers. From this, I created an initial user persona and competitive analysis.

The area of focus
The app is designed for last minute planning: Things that people that like to wing it on. It will curate local recommendations based on what the locals do on a budget. Locals don’t make reservations at the best restaurants, they wait in line at the cool new spot around the corner. They don’t go to full priced theater shows, they get half-price tickets to the local sports event. They Go to the park, walk to the beach, shop at the little unknown boutiques.
All of this can be tailored to the individual traveler based on their interests. And can all be done

Revised Persona
From insights, a revised user persona was created to more specifically represent the anticipated user of the app.
Initial Wireframes
Once the concept for the app was hammered out, I was able to utilize XD for the initial wireframes. They were a bit rough, but ultimately lead to the more refined versions.
A Problem Emerges:
How to communicate the idea behind the app: that the place matches for an individual are suggested based on input from similar people that live in the area being visited.
